About the Band

DRVYN Bio

DRVYN emerged from the beautiful land of Burton, Ohio. Three high school friends — Cody Charvat, Donovan Springer, and Aaron Pawlak — joined forces in the dark basement of Deano (aka Dean the Machine). They had fun jamming and occasionally played local bars, where they began gaining a fan base.

They initially called themselves Young and Relentless, later settling on the locally famous Ease Back. During their years of jamming, they were occasionally missing a lead singer. Lucky for them, there was a dweller above the dark basement of jams — and his name was Ethan Alan.

Ethan would sometimes jam with the boys, but nothing ever blossomed until much later. At the time, Ethan had been heavily involved in the world-famous power duo Dan Bonnett, playing drums and singing backup vocals. His voice was shy and undeveloped. Over the years, both projects for the four young gentlemen slowed down, and they lived in solitude, perfecting their crafts and embarking on mighty quests alone.

Most would believe this is where the story ends — but in fact, it was only the beginning. Ethan had begun playing acoustic shows on his own as a way to share his music and make a humble living. Then, one day, the stars aligned. Cody, Donovan, and Aaron all journeyed to one of his shows and reconnected — the fires of passion and creativity burning brighter than ever. They reminisced about the old days of jamming and performing.

After the show, they approached Ethan with a life-altering request. In unison, they proclaimed:

“We like the songs you’re writing, and we’d like to learn them and rock the socks off all who are willing to listen.”

And so it began...

Fortunately, the boys had each been playing on their own for so long that they’d amassed a large catalog of unfinished — but insanely radical — original material. The four young creators began meeting up in Deano’s Dark Basement or the legendary LP3. Through their time practicing, they quickly realized they were missing something... something very important.

While the four-piece rock group was indeed rocking and rolling, their sound wasn’t complete. Luckily, Deano emerged to save the day — a modern-day Superman, if you will. Deano had years on the young fellas, but those years were spent mastering his craft: synthesizing sounds that could melt your eyeballs out of their sockets.

Deano had played bass and keys in the bands Reality Twitch and Anagram, but had since stepped away from the scene to raise a family and take care of his hog farm. The four young men and one old man united seamlessly under one mission: to have fun and make some rock and roll.

They were having so much fun that they’d forgotten the most important part of having a band — the name. For their first few shows, they picked a different name each time to see what would stick. Aaron’s Brother’s Band and SpaceWorm were front-runners until they realized the name that encapsulated everything they stood for: DRVYN (Driven).

They were tired of being DRVYN by the strings of those in control — tired of being puppets of society, constrained by norms and expectations. This was exactly how they approached their music as well: coloring outside the proverbial lines of genre, writing and performing what they loved without worrying whether it fit a specific mold.

DRVYN is known for their high-energy performances and diverse sound. You never know what you’ll hear when you attend a DRVYN show.
